The Broome Recreation and Aquatic Centre is located on and combines indoor and outdoor recreation facilities for the whole family
The centre's 25 metre, 8 lane outdoor pool is protected by shade sails and has a lagoon pool and spa feature. Activities include aqua classes, learn to swim, lap swimming and water polo. The pool is also the venue for regional swimming carnivals such as the Kimberley Short Course Championships. Heated during the dry season and under shade during the wet season, you can be sure the water's always the perfect temperature.
BRAC is responsible for several ovals within the Shire including Male Oval in Chinatown, Haynes Oval on Frederick Street and Fr McMahon and Joseph "Nipper" Roe fields in the BRAC complex. These venues are available to hire and are used extensively by local sporting groups such as West Kimberley Football League, Broome Touch Association, Broome Cricket Association and Broome Soccer Association.
The stadium at BRAC is set up for many sports including basketball, netball, volleyball and indoor soccer. It is also used for other activities such as Tae Kwon Do, circus skills workshops, group fitness, social badminton and table tennis. The stadium has two courts and can be hired out casually or on a regular basis.
There is a multipurpose room within the centre which can be used for regular or one off meetings, group fitness classes, workshops and educational courses. It is air conditioned, carpeted and can be set up with chairs, tables, whiteboard and TV/DVD facilities.
The centre has a number of outdoor netball/basketball courts and 8 tennis courts. These outdoor courts are all under lights so you can enjoy a game in the cooler evenings. They are available for season or casual hire and the centre also has racquets for hire.
Adjacent to the outdoor courts is a licensed bar facility. This courtyard area can be set up with chairs and tables and BRAC has a number of RSA qualified staff to serve at your event.
BRAC is the venue for many major annual events that take place in Broome such as North West Expo, Worn Art, the Kimberley Cup regional sports competition. It is also an ideal venue for events such as concerts, exhibitions, weddings, conferences, large scale AGMs and public meetings. The extensive range of facilities and beautifully landscaped setting make BRAC the ideal venue whatever your requirements.
If you would prefer to just sit back and relax, the shaded lawn area is the perfect spot. Bring your own picnic or choose from the wide range of food and drinks available at the kiosk!
